Fraktur
Johannes Guteberg created blackletter or fraktur a child system in 1440. Gutenberg was a German blacksmith, goldsmith, printer and publisher who introduced printing to Europe. Blackletter was an effiecent system for attaching movable letters to a printing press it also used Gutenburgs bible and books. Blackletter has dramatic thin and tick strokes. In some fonts blackletter sometimes has swirls on the serifs. Blackeltters typefaces are based on early manuscript lettering. Over the time blackletter became difficult to read and was used less and less.
